If there is anything us Irish are good at, it is celebrating Halloween to the fullest extent and making sure to scare the living wits out of each other as the occasion calls for. Halloween has for a long time and will continue to be a memorable date on the Irish calendar as one of the, if not the greatest horror novels in the world was written by an Irish man of Dublin descent. Bram Stoker was the critically acclaimed author behind “Dracula”, which apart from the Bible is the bestselling book in the world! So to pay respect to all the Frankenstein’s, Vampires, and Zombies, Aspect Hotel Parkwest have done a bit of researching into everything our visitors can get up to this Halloween.
Firstly we have the “Ghastly Glasnevin Exhibition” This is a history tour of all the horrific and gruesome tales of death and burial in Dublin during the 19th century. If you’re interested in tales of grave robbers, rituals and burial customs and there practical reason for being used then this is the horror tour for you!
We have also got a Halloween family fun day for you and the family. The day consists of seasonal fun and a wild trail! Later on in the evening there will be a live Ceili and also a scarecrow building activity to par take in where you can build a scarecrow or be the scarecrow!
What would you do if you won €10.000.000 with Euromillions???
For myself I know what I would do! But what do other people want to do with such an amount of money? To find out we’ve asked this to our friends on Facebook and this is the result:
- Let me first win! and will see afterwards. !!
Lol - quite a few new handbags.
- I’m going out now and I’ll buy a ticket Euromillons !!
- I would have a big big party !!! lol !!!”
- i’ll pay my debts off
- I’ll buy Astoria Hotel!
From this comments the idea came up to play and share. Following text was posted on Facebook with a few friends fast enough to join us and play.
“Astoria Hotel Antwerp

Good luck to Dimitry, Alfonso, Gregory, Astoria, Rosi, Myriam and Victoria! They have picked each 1 number to get lucky together tonight.
If you want to join us for the next Euromillions, please feel free to pick numbers next Friday afternoon! For sure we are “Happy Friends” with or without winning! Money is nice but does not make happy! Only for tonight then…

We hope you had as much fun as we did during the St Patrick’s festivities? As people celebrated across the world our friends at Tourism Ireland were hard at work using St Patrick’s as a springboard for their 2011 promotions. This year they outdid themselves showcasing the island of Ireland with spectacular events.
The €28 million campaign has reached millions of potential visitors for individuals to travel organisers and businesses. It has been estimated interest in the events generated the equivalent of €10 million in media exposure. Some of our favourite events included:
- Greening landmark attractions including the Empire State Building, Sydney Opera House, the fountain outside the White House, the Burj Al Arab and even the Moulin Rouge became the Moulin Vert for the day!
- Showing off Irish produce to the French with free samples and cookery demonstrations in Paris
- Flashmobs of Irish dancers descending on unsuspecting commuters in stations from Sydney to Sweden
- The best St Patricks Day Parade was in Dublin but New York and Munich (to name a few) put on a great show as well
For our money there was no better place to be than at the home of St Patrick’s Day celebrations – here in Ireland. If you didn’t make it this year we hope to see you next time!
This St Patricks week has been a busy one at Aspect Hotels.
Our hotel in Tamworth ran a Facebook competition to win one of their fantastic family hotel breaks to Drayton Manor Theme Park. They asked fans to creatively show why they should win the amazing prize and were inundated with entries. Their fans certainly are a creative bunch with the hotel received everything from photos to jokes to videos and the team had a really tough time choosing but in the end it was the fantastic poem by Grannybiker Mse that clinched it.
Everyone has been so impressed they’re planning a new exclusive competition on the Aspect Hotel Tamworth Facebook page very soon.
